Daycare classroom play activity with toddlers, promoting early childhood development and guided learning

What ages do you accept?

Bright Marvels Early Learning Academy welcomes children starting at 6 weeks through preschool age. Our programs are thoughtfully designed to support children at every stage of early development, with classrooms tailored specifically for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.

What are your hours of operation and do you offer flexible schedules?**

Our full-day program runs from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. We understand that every family's needs are unique, so we offer a range of schedule options and extended pickup until 5:30 PM or 6:00 PM for families who need additional flexibility.

What curriculum do you use?

At Bright Marvels, we use the Frog Street Curriculum, a research-based early childhood curriculum designed to support the development of the whole child. Frog Street focuses on language development, social-emotional growth, early literacy, problem-solving, and hands-on learning experiences. Our teachers combine this structured curriculum with play-based exploration, sensory activities, and enrichment experiences to create a well-rounded and engaging learning environment for every child.

How do you communicate with families throughout the day?

We use a parent communication app called Procare, which allows you to stay connected to your child’s day in real time. Through the app, you'll receive updates throughout the day that may include meals, diapering, naps, activities, photos, and important classroom announcements. This helps you stay involved and feel connected while your child is at school.

What are your teacher-to-child ratios?

We follow all New York State and Department of Health regulations to ensure a safe and supportive classroom environment. Our ratios are:

- Infants (6 weeks – 12 months): 1 teacher for every 4 children

-Toddlers (12 months – 24 months): 1 teacher for every 5 children

-Preschool (24 months – 36 months): 1 teacher for every 6 children

-Preschool (36 months – 48 months): 1 teacher for every 10 children

-Preschool (48 months – 60 months): 1 teacher for every 12 children

These ratios allow our teachers to provide attentive care while creating meaningful learning experiences for each child.

Do children go outside?

Yes! Outdoor exploration is a key part of our program. Children enjoy time outside whenever possible, including walks to the nearby park and along the waterfront by the river. These experiences allow children to explore nature, observe their surroundings, and stay active while enjoying fresh air. When outdoor play is not possible due to weather conditions, children still have opportunities for movement and exploration in our indoor play space called Curiosity Cove.

Do you offer enrichment programs?

Yes! In addition to our daily curriculum, children participate in enrichment experiences such as yoga, music, creative arts, STEM exploration, and special in-house guest experiences that bring exciting learning opportunities directly to our school.

How do you help children adjust when they first start, especially if they are shy?

Starting somewhere new is a big step, and we honor every child’s unique personality and pace. Our caring teachers support both children and parents with extra patience and comfort during the first few weeks, encouraging a gentle, gradual transition. We focus on building trust and helping each little one feel safe and confident. With gentle encouragement and open communication, children naturally grow comfortable, make new friends, and feel right at home from day one.

How do you handle challenging behaviors?

At Bright Marvels, we approach behavior with patience, guidance, and understanding. Our teachers focus on helping children learn appropriate ways to express their emotions, solve problems, and interact with others. We use positive reinforcement and teach social-emotional skills that help children build confidence and self-regulation. And of course, partnering with the family and working together.

What happens if my child gets sick during the day?

If your child isn’t feeling well, we’ll reach out right away so you can make arrangements for pickup. The health and well-being of all our children matter deeply to us, and we always follow health guidelines to keep everyone safe.

How do you keep children safe?

Your child’s safety means everything to us. From our secure two-door entry system to our attentive, well-trained teachers, we go above and beyond to create a safe and supportive environment. We follow all Department of Health regulations and maintain facilities where children can comfortably learn and play.
